Fair Use Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026 (v1.1)

English version · Deutsche Fassung

This Fair Use Policy states the concrete limits that apply to shared resources. It forms part of our Terms of Service (Section 4) and exists so that a single customer cannot degrade the service for everyone else on the same node.

Scope. The resource thresholds below apply to every product whose cores are shared with other customers: LXC VPS, KVM VPS, Windows KVM VPS and Storage VPS, web hosting, game servers and Discord bot hosting. Only our VDS line is exempt from the CPU thresholds, because its cores are pinned to the individual instance and are not available to anyone else. The prohibited-use list and the network rules apply to every product without exception, VDS included.

Resource limits on shared products

  • Processor. A sustained average above 70 % of the cores allocated to your instance over 60 minutes leads us to contact you. A sustained average above 90 % over 30 minutes allows us to reduce the CPU priority of the instance.
  • Memory and disk I/O. Continuous swapping, or sustained saturation of a node's disk I/O caused by a single instance, allows us to reduce the I/O priority of that instance.
  • Network. Outbound traffic is shaped to 1 Gbit/s per instance. More than 2,000 concurrent outbound connections from one instance, or sustained outbound traffic that measurably degrades other customers on the same node, allows us to throttle or filter the traffic.
  • Automatic backups. Backups follow the schedule you set in the panel; at most five are retained on a rolling basis and all of them are deleted when the service ends.

These values are measured on the node, not inside your instance. On request we will tell you the measured values on which a measure was based.

Always prohibited, on every product

  • crypto mining of any kind, including proof-of-work mining in the background of another workload;
  • port scanning, brute-force attacks, credential stuffing and vulnerability scanning of systems you do not own;
  • open proxies, open mail relays and Tor exit nodes;
  • unsolicited bulk email and any form of spam;
  • DDoS tooling, booters and stressers, and participation in attacks on third-party systems;
  • hosting malware, command-and-control infrastructure, phishing pages and content that is illegal under German or European law;
  • circumventing resource, rate or licence limits, including by distributing one instance across multiple customers without a reseller agreement.

How we act

As a rule we escalate in steps. We contact you first by email and in your panel, and you have at least 24 hours to respond. A reply stops the automation and a person takes over the case. If we hear nothing at all, we reduce the affected resource, for the processor to half of the cores allocated to the instance. Only after a further 72 hours without a reply do we suspend the service. Every restriction is lifted automatically once your usage stays inside the limits for 24 hours. Where there is imminent danger to the security, integrity or availability of our systems or to third parties, for example in the case of an ongoing attack or an active miner, we may act immediately and without prior notice.

If we restrict, suspend or terminate a service, you receive a statement of reasons in text form pursuant to Article 17 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (DSA). You can object to a measure at any time at [email protected]; we will review it and reverse the measure if the objection is justified.
