Six new OS templates, from Fedora 42 to Proxmox VE 9

4 min read · by the InstantNode team

The OS picker just got a lot longer. Alongside the Ubuntu and Debian images that most servers run on, every KVM plan now offers six new templates - each one built, boot-tested and cloud-init wired by us, so your SSH key and network configuration land exactly as they should on first boot.

What is new

Fedora 42 - the fast lane. New kernels, new toolchains, first to ship everything. The right choice when you want current software without building it yourself.

AlmaLinux 10 and Rocky Linux 10 - the enterprise twins. Both are rebuilds of the same enterprise sources with a decade-class support horizon. If your software says "RHEL compatible" on the box, either of these is your home.

openSUSE Leap 15.6 - the stable European. Ships with zypper and the best system administration tool nobody talks about, YaST. A favorite for people who like their servers boring in the best way.

Arch Linux - rolling release, always current, zero hand-holding. You know if you want this; if you have to ask, start with Debian.

Proxmox VE 9 - not a desktop distro but a full hypervisor. Combined with nested virtualization it turns one VPS into your own virtualization host - we wrote a whole post about it.

Bring your own, too

Running something we do not list - a licensed RHEL, a hardened internal image? Open a ticket and we will look at mounting your image as a custom template for your account. And if your current server runs elsewhere, the Server Importer moves it over folder by folder.

All templates are cloud-init ready and boot in about a minute on any KVM plan.
